When God Hears and Responds
2 Chronicles 7:14
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
When the world around us seems to be crumbling in chaos, how does God want His children to respond? How does He want you and me to respond?
· Humbly look inward before you look outward. We can easily say that the problem with our world is politics, Hollywood, the media, or something else, but a spiritual revival does not start in the culture; it starts in the church. It starts in the hearts of God’s people. It starts in my heart and in your heart.
· Kneel down before standing up. Every documented revival in the history of the world started with one or two people who prayed that God would change their world. It has been said, and it is true, if the Christian is to advance, he/she must advance on their knees.
· Seek God before seeking solutions. As the people of God, we should make a declaration of dependence—dependence on God. What would happen in our world today if this Generation chose to be God-centered rather than self-centered?
Each of these instructions from God’s word is something that should be done before we as individual Christians ever speak a word to someone else. Before we confront our culture, we must humbly look inward, kneel down, seek God, and confess our own sins. —Then God will hear from Heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land.
“Have thine own way Lord, have Thine own way. Thou art the potter. I am the clay. Mold me and make me after thy will, while I am waiting yielded and still.”
